Happy New Year: This Year Will Be Different

This Year Will Be Different

Much like the movie Click staring Adam Sandler, I wish I could have fast forwarded through a lot of happenings in 2020. I would have happily clicked past the pandemic, the political and social unrest all over the world, the devastation caused by weather and fire, and the death of so many beloved people.

With all the bad, there were just as many rewind-deserving good things that came out of 2020. For me and my family, stay-at-home orders helped us revive family time and dinners together. My son and I baked holiday cookies together, which we haven’t taken the time to do in so many past years.

Throughout the year, every new limitation set by the pandemic fallout surfaced newfound time for me to do things I would have pushed aside under more normal conditions. I cleaned out my closet. I got a little more organized. And I took much-needed breaks from my screens to cook more, bake a little, and even read again. Yes, I’d rewind and do those things all over again.

I also spent much of 2020 launching my new sites. On many levels, trying to build a business during a pandemic proved challenging. Vendors were out of stock on many things, and, in some cases, out of business altogether. Families across the country were hurting and spending on home furnishings simply wasn’t a priority. Nonetheless, I kept my head down and pushed through it. And, yes, I’d rewind and do it all again.

I learned a lot this past year and am beyond thankful for all those that shopped and bought from my site, as well as followed my blogs. As I say goodbye to 2020, I say hello 2021!

I have big plans for 2021, including the launch of a new cooking blog — yes, many in my family are happy to hear that I’m finally going to measure and write down recipes for all to follow. I’m calling the new site Annette’s Cooking (www.annettescooking.com). I’ll be sure to drop everyone a note when it’s live. And if there’s a special recipe you’re interested in, drop me a note and I’ll be sure to add those to the top of the lineup.

I’m also planning to add new features to Annette’s Décor to make it easier to browse and shop the site — did you notice I changed the name and URL of the site? While ACS Home Accents remains the primary business name, I’ll now have two sites operating under it — Annette’s Décor for quality home furnishings and Annette’s Cooking for practical home cooking resources. I’ll also be moving all my décor articles/blog to Annette’s Décor site, making it easier to find inspiration and ideas directly from that site (in case you didn’t already figure it out, you’re on the new site location now).

Exciting times ahead. Look for more details and stories coming soon. Until then, wishing everyone a happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year!
